The majestic site of Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca citadel located in the Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru on a 2,430-meter (7,970 ft) mountain ridge. It is located in the Machupicchu District within Urubamba Province above the Sacred Valley, which is 80 kilometers (50 mi) northwest of Cuzco. This world wonder is a MUST SEE during your visit to Cusco!
Itinerary
You will be picked-up from your hotel between 08:00 a.m. to 08:30 a.m. and travel to Ollantaytambo. The drive takes on average one hour and a half to two hours maximum. The bus will leave us one block from the train station, where we will take the train scheduled to leave at 11:15 a. m. and will arrive in Aguas Calientes at 13:25 a.m. In Aguas Calientes we will have to walk about 5 blocks from the train station to the bus station to take our bus to the citadel of Machupicchu. The entrance to Machupicchu will be from 14:00 to 15:00 and our guide will be waiting for us at the entrance. Once in Machupicchu we will have a two hour guided tour where we will visit the main places of Machupicchu including: the tower of the watchmen; the main square; the sundial, etc.
At the end of the tour we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes. The return train from Aguas Calients to Ollantaytambo will be at 7pm. Upon your arrival to Ollantaytambo there will be a transfer waiting for you with your name to take your bus back to Cusco arriving at around 10.30 p.m.
