The Colca Canyon is a canyon of the Colca River in southern Peru, located about 160 kilometres (99 mi) northwest of Arequipa. With a depth of about 1000 – 2000 m (3300 – 6600 ft) (whereas bottom is at cca 2000 m and edges are at 3000 – 4000 metres above the sea level), it is one of the deepest canyons in the world.

Itinerary

All tours can be done privately where you can set the departure time, add in or remove sites and most importantly go at your own pace. Please ask us for more information about availabily and prices.

  • Day 1

    You will be picked up from your hotel between 03:00 to 03:30 a.m. in our private transport and start our journey to Colca Canyon. After 3 hours of travel we will stop in the town Chivay, where we will have breakfast. We will continue our trip to Cruz del Condor, where we will stay for around 1 hour watching the fabulous flight of the Condors and take in the majesty of the canyon.

    We will then take our transport back to the district of Chivay, making the following stops:

  • Antahuilque viewpoint - where you can appreciate the Inca terraces of the Colca and the small lakes of water that change in colour.

  • The small village of Maca where we can appreciate a colonial church, take pictures with tame eagles and camelids, and where we can also buy Colca handicrafts and taste the Colca sour drink made from the fruit of a Colca cactus.

  • The small town of Yanque to visit the thermal medicinal baths of Chacapi where you can relax in the waters for around 1 hour. We will then head to Chivay for lunch.

  • After this we will make our way back to the city of Arequipa making the following stops along the way:

  • Andes viewpoint where we will be able to appreciate the volcanic chain of the south.

  • The national reserve where we will be able to appreciate the wild fauna (vicuñas, birds and others) and we will also be able to see domesticated camelids (llamas, alpacas and others).

  • End

    Continuing with our tour we will arrive to the city of Arequipa at approximately 5:00 pm.
