Free Walking Peru has professional bi-lingual guides (English and Spanish) that all have a background in Peruvian and Inca history. Our guides manage between one to three tours a day depending on group numbers and language required and include Marco, the founder of Bloody Bueno and Free Walking Peru; Diego, a professional biologist with 5 years guiding experience and our newest guide Werner who is also a Biologist and a professional tour guide.
All tours start with a warm welcome and a rundown on how the schedule and route will take place. All sessions include an account on Peruvian history with special focus on the Incas, pre- Columbian times and current day issues. We will visit important locations such as: markets, artisanal shops, resto-bars and more; and important buildings including: temples, houses, shrines, sacred monuments, Inca and Spanish architecture and murals depicting the origins and history of the Incas. We will also provide you with handy tips on local places to visit in accordance with your budget, to ensure that your time in Cusco is EPIC!
Note: Tipping your guide at the end of the tour, means the power is yours! You decide what the tour is worth and is super IMPORTANT! BE GENEROUS 🙂
10 A.M. Tour
The morning tour will finish either at a) one of the best resto-bars in town where you will learn how to make traditional and typical foods such as ceviche or taste the Peruvian national drink Pisco Sour; b) San Blas market where you can drink and eat like a local delving into the best organic fresh juices and the famous Machupicchu sandwich. If you have a preference for one of the options please let your guide know at the beginning of the tour. Remember Peru is a democratic country, so just ask your tour guide and they will make it happen!
12:45 P.M. Tour
On the midday tour, we will visit the highest viewpoint of the city and see the world´s largest megalithic site known as Sacsayhuaman or pronounced by many as “sexy-woman” A must to see in Cuzco. Here you will also learn about how the Incas used the wool from alpacas to make traditional clothing and how they created natural dyes from plants, roots, flowers and insects you can also purchase 100 % baby alpaca with the 40% Discounts taking our tour . The tour will finish close to the plaza de armas where you later can find a vast varieties of restaurants to have food if you are hungry.
Note: This tour requires a minimum of 20 people. The first part of the tour is by foot and the rest is by bus.
15:45 P.M. Tour
During the afternoon tour, we will visit Qoricancha also known as the Golden Enclosure or Temple of the Sun, which was the official home of Pachakutek, 9th Inca leader, who was famous for expanding the Inca culture throughout South America. We will also visit the artistic neighbourhood of San Blas and finish with Limbus Resto Bar that has an incredible panoramic view of the entire city of Cusco and what better way to savour it than with a glass of Pisco Sour whilst watching the sunset for FREE.
